Reports

Reports correlate changes in terms with other observations to explain the behavior of platforms and their consequences.

Different forms of reports exist. Trend reports compile observations of multiple changes to draw broader conclusions on how rules evolve across time, services and jurisdictions. Studies ask open-ended questions inviting further investigation and establishing methodological frameworks that structure how such changes are observed, classified, and evaluated. Investigations do a deep dive on a specific change and how it is actually applied on real usage or how it articulates with regulation.

Memos

Memos are short explanations of a specific change in some terms of a service.

They remove the technical and expertise barriers needed to interpret a textual change. They can provide additional context to make sense of that change, such as outlining the regulation, geopolitical tensions or public controversy that likely led to it. They can also highlight the potential consequences of that change on the users and partners of the service, as well as potential real-world harms to society.
